THE JOY OF SINGING This is the fun beginners foundation singing course for anyone who wants to develop their voice and their confidence.

This is the beginner’s singing course for everyone who has ever wanted to learn to use or improve their singing voice. During this course, you will increase your confidence at the same time as you learn solid vocal skills. We start from absolute scratch to get a really strong, confident foundation in singing technique. All singing is done together, with the whole group ... so you don’t have to sing alone.
You will learn; voice care, vocal projection, breath control, how to improve your pitch, harmonise and develop vocal richness. You will also learn some great new songs and have lots of fun!
GO VOCAL (Ongoing Intermediate Singing Group & Choir)
Date: Tuesday April 29th. Time: 7:30 - 9pm
So now you have completed the beginner’s singing course and don’t want to stop! Well you can continue to join us weekly in the same supportive and fun environment. We sing together building our skills and confidence with vocal techniques and harmony, by singing some great a cappella style songs. This is also where you get to sing alone or accompanied by guitar to your favorite rock or folk songs… but only when YOU are ready! Until then, just come and sing along in the choruses! We also do occasional performances as a choir!
GET STRUMMING (Six Week Introductory Guitar Course)
Date:Saturday May 10th Time: 10:30am - 12 noon.
Learn all the basic guitar chords and the progressions to play your favorite rock and folk songs. Did you know that most of them are only three chords? And, that means you can play them after this six week course! You just may even become inspired to write your own!
You will learn some easy, popular and fun songs that will introduce all the basic open chords and simple strumming rhythms. All you need is a six string guitar and the willingness to get out of bed in time for the first class after that you’ll be hooked!
GROOVES AND RIFFS (Ongoing Intermediate Guitar Group)
Date: Saturday May 10th. Time: 2:30 - 4pm.
This is where guitar playing becomes really exciting. Now that you know all the basic chords, you have a good solid foundation to build upon. In this intermediate level course, we will introduce; bar chords and finger picking styles for contemporary rock & folk songs, as well as some simple riffs and grooves to make even the simplest chord progressions sound totally hot! You will also learn some funky new strumming techniques. Bring your guitar, a plectrum and a capo!
TRIBAL GROOVE (A Six week Introductory African Drumming Course)
Date:Monday May 12th. Time: 6pm - 7:30pm Held upstairs in Didgeridoo Breath, 6 Market Street Fremantle (Opposite the Post Office) Free Street Parking!
This lighthearted, six week beginner’s workshop will introduce you to the basic instruments, techniques and joys of African drumming. You will also learn five, popular, easy and fun traditional rhythms and songs. All drums are supplied by the shop (thanks heaps guys!) and no previous experience is necessary. All you need is a desire to ‘get with the groove’ and have lots of fun !

Now that you have some basic skills, you can join us in the ultimate African drumming experience. “ MARAKADON ” is a group of experienced drummers and singers, who continue to learn more of the traditional rhythms and songs. We create the big community sound of a real, African drumming ensemble. Bass duns, cow bells, shekere, and djembe cross rhythms, combine with three part vocal harmonies, to create the powerful dance and trance grooves that sing to our soul. This group also does the occasional performance! Why not join us?

BASIC BLUES HARMONICA (A One Day Workshop For Everyone)
Date: Sunday May 18th. Time: 10:30am - 4:30pm
This would have to be the easiest instrument in the world to play! Join others in learning some simple techniques to help you play all your favorite songs. Learn to create; straight harp and cross harp melodies, train rhythms, whistle blows, bending notes and your own improvisations. All you need is a Blues Harp in the key of A ($10 at your local music shop) and a willingness to join in and have fun!
THE SONG-SMITH’S WORKSHOP (A One Day Workshop For Everyone InterestedIn The Art Of Songwriting)

Ever wanted to write your own songs? Maybe you already have a few half written melodies or some great poems just waiting to be sung. Even if you have a few good, finished numbers already, this one day workshop will help formulate ideas for future songs. If you can already play an instrument, great, but it’s not really essential at this stage, especially if you aremore of a lyricist.
This course covers basic song structure, writing great lyrics, and how to marry them to melodies. We also play fun games and exercises to inspire the creative juices. This workshop is for everyone interested in the art of songwriting, at all levels. Just remember Bono’s famous words about being a songwriter…

This is the 'one day' version of THE JOY OF SINGING - for those who can't make it to the six week course. SONGWRITER’S FOREST RETREAT (Institute of Human Development, Jarradale. WA)

This weekend offers a profound inspiration for all songsmiths. It’s an opportunity to come together with other songwriters, from the well seasoned to the fresh and new.
This is a safe, supportive, lighthearted, one day introductory workshop in basic performance skills. By participating in simple theatre games, we develop our self expression. This expressive self confidence empowers us to surrender our inhibitions and to fall in love with our creative imagination. In doing so, we remember how to relax and to play authenically, like a child.
This is an essential course for all nervous performers! It is also an inspiring fountain of creativity for musicians, writers, poets, storytellers, teachers, healers, and all performing artists.
Ever wanted to join or even start your own serious band? This is an ongoing group of dedicated vocalist who have attended several Go Vocal terms and who want to either start or to polish their own music ensembles to performance level. The group works with solos, duets, trios, bands, and arrangements for cappella groups. You can also be accompanied by guitar, bass, piano, percussion, other folk and world music instruments, as well as lots of tight harmonies. Most importantly, we hold a performance for the whole group at the end of each term.
This group is strickly limited to 12 participants, so priority is given to "Go Vocal" graduates. Admission is by audition only.
